Collection: Raymond Yakeleya

Raymond Yakeleya is an award-winning Dene producer, director, writer, and author from Tulita (formerly Fort Norman), Northwest Territories, who now lives in Edmonton. With more than 30 years of experience in television, he is recognized as a pioneering Indigenous storyteller.

His acclaimed documentaries, including We Remember (CBC, 1979) and The Last Mooseskin Boat (National Film Board, 1981), have screened at international festivals and earned numerous national and international awards. Since 1998, he has produced five national television series while continuing to champion Indigenous voices in mainstream media.

In addition to his film and television work, Raymond is the author of several books, including The Tree by the Woodpile, Whispers from the Midnight Sun, and The Little Boy Who Grew Up with a River. Across all of his work, he is dedicated to preserving Dene knowledge, language, and stories for future generations.
