Collection: Lulu Keating
Lulu Keating is a prolific filmmaker and writer whose creative practice spans over four decades. Since 1980, she has produced at least one film per year across diverse genres, including documentary, dramatic features, animation, and experimental shorts. Alongside her independent productions, she has collaborated with major broadcasters like the NFB and CBC. Her work has screened globally at festivals from Chicago to Copenhagen to Harare, earning widespread acclaim and numerous awards for its compelling storytelling and distinctive cinematic vision.
Raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Keating eventually established deep artistic roots in Dawson City, Yukon. Her long-standing writing career encompasses fiction, non-fiction, and journalism, with work published in The Journal of Canadian Studies, Geist Magazine, Parallelogram, The Globe and Mail, and North of Ordinary. Her long-running column, My Dawson, profiled visiting artists and local figures, and her local literary contributions even earned her a gold nugget in a Dawson City short story competition.
Recently, Keating expanded her literary portfolio with the publication of her first book, Splinter and Shard. She continues to divide her time between filmmaking and writing, frequently taking retreats to Greece as she develops her upcoming novels, Klondike Codfish and Astrid’s Vision.
