In 2002 Dr. Dolly Garza, a professor at the University of Alaska, took early retirement and went to live on Haida Gwaii. Originally Haida from Alaska, she married a future hereditary chief of the Haida nation. Dolly continues the valuable workshops she gave to communities in Alaska, promoting the sustainable use of edible seaweeds which provide vitamins, minerals and micro-nutrients. As a source of natural iodine, edible seaweeds are especially helpful for anyone undergoing radiation treatments.

This documentary shows her methods of harvesting for sustainability, clips from a workshop she gave to the community members of Skidegate and a cooking session with one of her favourite sample seaweed dishes while Jeff Bear demonstrates his culinary skills with a stir fry containing the seaweed known as "fucus."
