In 2004, the small Métis community of St. Laurent, situated on the eastern shores of Lake Manitoba, had the opportunity to develop and present an exhibit for the newly created National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
This documentary captures the enthusiasm of the local members of the St. Laurent Smithsonian Committee as they work with the museum staff to create and shape an exhibit that properly depicts their heritage and lifestyle. It follows 150 community members as they travel to and take part in the Grand Opening of the Museum. The celebration captured the world's attention and generated great pride among the community, who are representative of Métis communities throughout the Great Northern Plains of Canada.
