Seven-year-old Mellissa grounds herself with the seven sacred teachings taught by the late Elder Doris Campbell. Mellissa realizes that her only safe haven from this home is by living her life in spiritual harmony. The film offers a glimpse into a neglectful foster home and the efforts of a child to establish a sense of balance. It is accompanied by a discussion guide that explains The Seven Teachings, written by one of Canada's First Nations Elders and spiritual leaders, David Courchene, Jr., from the Ashinabe Nation in Manitoba.
