Tony Chan revisits his childhood and interviews several members of his family who ran The Panama Cafe, close to Chinatown in Victoria, BC, for over 30 years. The cafe was a thriving business in the city, run by the parents and their 12 offspring. Two generations of the family were raised on the premises, living upstairs and actively working in the operation of this cafe until it was sold in 1967.

The Panama provides a glimpse of life in Victoria during the depression and of the contributions of the Chan family to the community.
