Chinese and Naxi with English subtitles

This documentary portrays the experience of Canadians and Chinese collaborating in participatory research to enhance community development in Lijiang County, Yunnan, China. Participatory research is an alternative approach that lets local people take an active part in development planning. In documenting the training workshop held in Lijiang in 1996 and subsequent fieldwork by the workshop participants, this video gives viewers a glimpse into the lives of people who inhabit this remote corner of China.
