Frank Cole (1954-2000) was an award-winning Canadian documentary filmmaker who became the first North American to cross the Sahara Desert alone on camel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea. It earned him a place in the Guiness Book of World Records, and his documentary Life Without Death chronicling the 1990 solo crossing won prestigious awards and was released theatrically in Paris. In 2000, Cole returned to cross the Sahara again. In October he was found, murdered by bandits outside Timbuktu. Frank's editor and colleague, Francis Miquet, has created a tribute to Frank Cole and his work. Miquet has included a 10-page booklet of personal recollections of Frank with the DVD.
