Chanterelle mushrooms are the treasured culinary gift of summer rains in Canada's magical West Coat rainforest. In Chanterelle Rain international award-winning animator Gail Noonan (Your Name In Cellulite, The Menopause Song) has created a lush and entertaining homage to the passion and obsession these members of the Fungal Royal Family inspire in mere mortals.
For this film, Noonan developed a dogma of taking whatever was at hand (or in season) to create the illusion of movement. Chanterelle Rain uses stop motion to explore the evocative impact of unconventional materials such as dryer lint, flowers, leaves, wild berries, coloured sand, beads, insects, both real and plastic.
