Four teenagers share their experiences trying to cope with chronic pain. Their thoughts are intercut with performance by dancer Vanessa Goodman in this innovative collaboration between Dr. Leora Kuttner and choreographer Judith Marcuse. Animation of the Body-Self Neuromatrix illustrates the brain's central role in the process through different stages of healing.

Leora Kuttner, Ph.D. is a pediatric clinical psychologist specializing in children's pain management. She is Clinical Professor, Pediatrics, at the University of British Columbia and British Columbia Children's Hospital, Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Kuttner is the recipient of the 2007 Jeffrey Lawson Award for Advocacy in Children's Pain Relief given the the American Pain Society. In addition to her publication (A Child in Pain--How to Help, What to Do), Dr. Kuttner has directed to previous award-winning documentaries on pain management and lectured across Canada, at the Mayo Clinic and in Italy, Switzerland and Germany.

Judith Marcuse has a broad international background in ballet and modern dance. She is based in Vancouver and noted for her innovative choreographer and productions that focus on issue faced by youth. She was the recipient of the Jean A. Chalmers Award for Choreography in 1976, the Clifford E. Lee Award for Choreography in 1979, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Simon Fraser University in recognition of her groundbreaking definition of dance that combines artistic excellence with relevance to the community.
