AMPLIFY HER follows three women working in the field of electronic dance music (EDM) who battled demons from painful pasts to emerge as beacons on the global festival scene. Applecat, Lux Moderna and Blondtron overcame isolation, illness and gender bias to give life to their creativity.
Their stories and those of other women exploring EDM--Wala, CloZee, A Hundred Drums and Kytami--are the source of inspiration for this feature documentary and transmedia project that included a workshop with Annie Nocenti for a collaboration of 21 women--artists, animators and illustrators--to create six animated motion comics and a graphic novel.
The documentary AMPLIFY HER combines visually dynamic footage with clips from motion comics to offer intimate access to the women working as DJs and electronic music producers as they seek to find their full power and voice.
