Marilyn Cherenko

Marilyn Cherenko is a Vancouver based animator working in traditional and experimental techniques since 1978. Her films blend her interests in painting, drawing, music, and dance into reflective, animated shorts that explore spiritual questions. Marilyn’s films have been shown at numerous international festivals and include an award-winning cameraless animation, Pursuit/Flight; a black and white animated short called Omnibus; a National Film Board vignette for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation celebrating the Year Of The Disabled called Bridging The Gap; and an undergrad film called Dream. Since 1992, Marilyn has been teaching animation at Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C, Canada, her alma mater. Thefour-year program teaches artists to become independent animators.
