Katharina Stieffenhofer

Katharina Stieffenhofer is a Winnipeg filmmaker, with an interest in art & nature, sustainable food systems, social justice and building healthier communities through quality programming.

Katharina was raised on a family farm in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1980. She holds a Fine Arts Degree from the University of Manitoba (1996) and exhibited nationally and internationally during her 16-year visual art practice. Katharina also taught art & language courses and presented workshops to children, youth and adults, and created/facilitated community art projects.

She produced & directed her first documentary film The York Boat Project about her public art project - the burial of a York Boat in Gimli, MB. in 2000. Subsequently, Katharina worked in the art department of the local film industry on 27 films most notably as Art Director on Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg

Katharina is the mother of 2 sons, a passionate, organic gardener and considers herself a live-long learner.
