Lisa Jackson


Lisa Jackson is a cross-genre filmmaker whose works have screened at Hotdocs, Tribeca, SXSW, Berlinale and London BFI, and aired on many networks in Canada. Her work has garnered many awards including a Genie and Canadian Screen Award and Playback magazine named her one of Ten to Watch.

She is Anishinaabe, originally from Ontario. After leaving home at age 10 to live with relatives in Vancouver, it was there she spent most of her childhood, youth and early adult years before moving to Toronto to complete an MFA at York University. Her recent projects include the internationally acclaimed VR piece created with the NFB,  Biidaaban: First Light and the short IMAX 3D film Lichen

Lisa's interest in the power of indigneous languages is central to a large-scale immersive multimedia installation, Transmissions, which premièred at the Milton and Fei Wong Experimental Theatre, Simon Fraser University in September 2019.
