This inspiring look at non-traditional career choices for women
presents commentary from a diverse group of women engineers. They
enthusiastically explain what their work involves and what it means
to them personally. As they speak, the resounding message is that
young women should consider all options when planning for their
futures.
The following women are among those featured in Women in
Engineering:
- Karen DiConti talks about how her native traditional ways have
influenced her work as an engineer;
- Julie Payette is an astronaut who is thrilled to be the second
women to join the Canadian Space Agency;
- Nancy Paris-Seeley is a biomedical engineer who strongly believes
that engineering is one of the great helping professions;
- Leanna Mah is a civil engineer who intends to encourage her
infant daughter to pursue a career one day.
This video encourages young women to take math and sciences while
in high school and to set objectives for themselves. Short dramatic
sequences emphasize some of the key points addressed.
