Camilla Gibb was born in London, England, grew up in Toronto and earned a Ph.D. in social anthropology from Oxford University. Her first and second novels were selected by the Globe & Mail as best books of 1999 and 2002 respectively. Since the release of Mouthing the Words, winner of the City of Toronto Book Award, she has been in the limelight. At work on a new novel, she discusses her meteoric rise and the road from academia to the writing life.
